Recorded May 29, 2020.
The New Hope Act, passed by the state legislature in mid-2019, expanded the list of felonies and misdemeanors eligible for vacation. With the WACDL Criminal Records and Restoration of Rights Committee, Vitaliy Kertchen helped review and draft language for the bill, and he is currently serving clients seeking to vacate records under the new law. Learn what’s eligible and how to quickly and effectively navigate the process. The Clean Slate Act, a follow-up bill to create a pilot exploring automatic vacation of some of these records, was vetoed this year due to budget constraints. Approved for one hour of Washington MCLE law & legal credit. The WSBA activity ID number is 1142269. MCLE credit is available for five years following the recording date date.
