Hosted by Jason Lantz
We are excited to host four representatives from the DOC Graduated Reentry (GRE) program who will explain the nuts and bolts of GRE. GRE offers many of our clients a path from total confinement to alternatives such as electronic home detention and work release. Attorneys should be advising clients about GRE as a possibility when explaining plea offers and the consequences of a felony conviction with a possible DOC sentence. However, clients often have questions about the particulars that most attorneys are unable to answer.
During this session, criminal defense attorneys will learn about eligibility criteria and screening processes for both Track 1 and Track 2 participants. Key legislative updates, such as SB 5502, will be discussed, including the requirement for substance use disorder assessments before program transfer. Attendees will also address common client concerns related to community supervision, violation procedures, and potential termination from the program.
Don’t miss this opportunity to deepen your understanding of the GRE program so you can better prepare and advise your clients.
Learning Outcomes:
Evaluate client eligibility and GRE screening requirements.
Address common client concerns and FAQs regarding program participation.
Support and prepare clients effectively in the reentry process.
Recorded on October 30th, 2024.
